Mario’s voice

Posted by NamdoTheCat - November 27th, 2023

am I the only one who thinks that people are overreacting about Mario's new voice? yes Charles Martinet is the best voice of Mario. but I think some want him to voice Mario forever. he can't do that. and he is not getting younger

and saying shit like Mario is not Mario anymore is a insult to Kevin Afghani. he did a damn good job.

and this isn't the first time, Mario has a different voice. and I have heard from people that can do a Mario voice. doing it for a long time hurts. so yeah. Mario's voice is kinda hard to do.

I played the entirety of Wonder, and I must admit I felt iffy about the voice when I heard them from the trailers. Once I played through the game I forgot/ didn't care about the voices after a while, not to say that the new voices are bad, but instead I've gotten used to them and thought the VAs did a pretty good job. Having the VAs try to replicate the original voices instead of giving them entirely new takes on the voices is probably the best thing Nintendo can do to avoid enraging the large community Mario has.

I can't really blame others for overreacting on the voice change, it's a pretty big one considering how long Charles Martinet voiced him. They just need to wait and get used to it, and besides, giving Kevin a chance on playing Mario will help him learn on doing the Mario voice like Charles did, maybe even better. Charles retiring from Mario's voice was inevitable, but I would've never imagined it being this recent. As long as a voice captures the fun and joyful personality Mario has, I don't think that will ever interfere with Mario not feeling like Mario.

Well said
